Water Saving Ideas
Water Tanks
With the ongoing drought and pressure from the government and community as a whole, water is fast becoming the topic on every body’s lips with a lot of emphasis on minimizing wastage without impacting on lifestyle. We have put together some of the water saving ideas that you can implement to help save the environment and with the ever changing legislation and water restrictions it pays to be thinking ahead with water saving.
Water tanks can be installed at the same time as the pool or even after the pool has been completed. Even if you are on town water a water tank will let you fill up the pool without the worry of how much it is costing you. There are various sizes, shapes and colours out now to blend in with your home or you can even have it underground and out of sight.
The water tanks harvest the water from your roof when it rains (that’s a big when) and can be supplied with a standard hose tap so you can also use that extra water to give your plants that much needed drink.
Water Diverters
These simple water diverting devices that redirect the rainwater from going into the storm water drains of the house and direct it to where you most need it i.e. topping up the pool or even watering the garden. The units can be self installed with a minimum of technical knowhow.
Pool Blankets
The biggest waste of water from your pool is evaporation. Evaporation happens not only when it is hot (although that is a major cause) but even when it is windy. Pool blankets come in a range of sizes and are easily cut to fit your pool. For those who like things a bit easier they can also be supplied with a roller making it easier to remove from the pool. The pool blankets have an added bonus if you use them during the colder months then the pool will maintain a warmer temperature, in conjunction with a heat pump or solar heating you will be able to get more use out of your pool all year round. |
